In AML with t(3;3)/inv(3), the translocated GATA2 enhancer induces the overexpression of EVI1 merely, although MECOM can be transcribed from two disparate promoters to encode two transcript isoforms MDS1-EVI1 and EVI1. Because of the translocation of the GATA2 oncogenic enhancer in t(3;3)/inv(3) AML, EVI1 was overexpressed and simultaneously GATA2 expression was suppressed from the rearranged allele9,10. The gene discussed is GATA2; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
