ALB and ischemic stroke: In a prospective study with 444 patients with ischemic stroke conducted by Idicula et al. (23), they found that high serum albumin levels were independently related to a better prognosis (OR 1.12, 95% CI 1.05–1.20), and the mortality was lower in patients with high albumin levels compared with those with low albumin levels by Cox regression analysis adjusted for age, sex, and NIHSS score on admission (OR 0.88, 95% CI 0.83–0.93).
