Babu et al. (22) conducted a prospective study with 560 patients with ischemic stroke and found that low albumin levels were significantly associated with poor prognosis (OR 1.972, 95% CI 1.103–4.001), defined by the mRS score > 3 at 3 months after stroke, and the stroke recurrence rate was higher in patients with low albumin levels compared with those with high albumin levels. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and ischemic stroke.
