Cardiovascular and renal comorbidities of diabetes are increasing in LMICs [5,6] and newer medications—specifically, sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists—help mitigate these comorbidities more effectively than insulin alone [7].
