Given that the pattern and intensity of MECP2/XPC co-expression differ between mice and humans (Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4), we questioned whether this co-expression is a characteristic feature of human stem cells, contributing to their health and potentially playing a tumor-suppressive role by preventing squamous cell carcinoma and its precursors.
