Our findings were consistent with the aforementioned results, showing that IRS1 CpG2 methylation and expression in the placenta correlated with children’s metabolic parameters at age 6, including obesity (waist-to-height ratio and subcutaneous, preperitoneal, and visceral fat) and insulin resistance markers (insulin and HOMA-IR). The gene discussed is IRS1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
