In patients on second-line sorafenib, higher AFP levels were significantly associated with lower DCR (76% vs. 33%, P = .006), which is consistent with studies in the literature that associate higher AFP levels with worse prognosis in HCC.25 Similarly, patients with Child–Pugh score B had significantly lower DCR compared to those with Child–Pugh score A, possibly due to impaired liver reserve. The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
