Hua [99] et al. found that the ethanolic extract of ZSS could play an anti-insomnia role by significantly reducing the serum levels of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in insomniac rats and by regulating the secretion of various hormones from the hypothalamus to correct the disorder of the HPA axis. Here, TNF is linked to insomnia measurement.
