LYNX2, a nicotinic modulatory protein, is encoded by the Lynx2/Lypd1 gene, expressed in key regions of anxiety and fear circuitry, such as the amygdala and medial prefrontal cortex, in addition to other CNS sites (Dessaud et al., 2006; Tekinay et al., 2009; Sherafat et al., 2021), and sites outside the nervous system (Song et al., 2024; Omori et al., 2024).
