The multivariable analysis, adjusted for age, gender, levels of CRP, levels of LDH, blood lymphocyte count, blood neutrophil count, blood platelet count, presence of underlying diabetes mellitus type II, chronic pulmonary disease, and hypertension, showed that serum CC16 levels are also an independent biomarker for COVID-19 severity, as it remained significant, with a slightly larger effect size (Table 2, OR 1.53, 95% CI 1.11-2.11, p = 0.0102).
