Mouse Clic5a has been implicated in kidney development and function (Wegner et al., 2010; Tavasoli et al., 2016a; Tavasoli et al., 2016b), while global Clic4 knockout mice have vascular defects (Chalothorn et al., 2009; Ulmasov et al., 2009), predisposition to pulmonary hypertension (Wojciak-Stothard et al., 2014), predisposition to kidney injury (Edwards et al., 2014), and skin and corneal wound healing defects (Padmakumar et al., 2012), and we recently used a conditional allele to show that endothelial Clic4 regulates lung vascular permeability (Kleinjan et al., 2023). The gene discussed is CLIC4; the disease is pulmonary hypertension.
