mCherry–B. abortus or –B. melitensis infection highly increased SLAMF7 surface expression (Figure 4B) at 48 hours post-infection (p.i.)in infected as well as bystander cells (Figure 4C), suggesting that soluble factor(s) mediate SLAMF7 overexpression in non-infected cells. This evidence concerns the gene SLAMF7 and infection.
