In nasopharyngeal carcinoma, it was found that LAPTM4B and EGFR form stable endosomes in radioresistant cells and that LAPTM4B interacts with Beclin 1 to promote the initiation of autophagic flux, possibly by promoting the formation of a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase catalytic subunit type 3 (PIK3C3, also known as Vps34) complex with Beclin 1 (53). The gene discussed is BECN1; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
