In C57Bl/6 mice, AChR-MG obtained with i.p. injections of poly(I:C) alone or with poly(I:C) and LPS is associated with thymic changes due to the expression of interferon type I. This leads to the overexpression of α-AChR subunit (the primary immunogenic subunit), the overexpression of CXCL13, CCL21, and BAFF which can induce B-cell recruitment and proliferation (7, 9). The gene discussed is TNFSF13B; the disease is myasthenia gravis.
