Using an ischemia-induced revascularization model, the impaired revascularization phenotype could be rescued by overexpression of adiponectin in APN-KO (adiponectin knockout) mice but not in mice that were lacking T-cadherin, suggesting an essential role of T-cadherin in mediating the proangiogenic activity of adiponectin. This evidence concerns the gene CDH13 and ischemia.
