An interesting study conducted by Cupisti et al. (2015) showed that, after 6 months of nutritional treatment, a group of 93 stage 3 CKD patients compared to 223 stage 3 CKD patients (that did not follow any nutritional treatment), showed lower values of azotemia, phosphorus and parathyroid hormone (PTH), suggesting its potential role also in the management of CKD-mineral bone disorders. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and abnormal mineralization disorder.
