VEGFA and brain neoplasm: Through differential gene expression analysis of each brain tumor type relative to GTEx normal brain tissue, we found that GBM (logFC: 3.06, p < 1 × 10−300) and pediatric HGAT (logFC: 2.17, p < 1 × 10−300) expressed VEGFA, a known regulator of BTB permeability in GBM [38], at significantly higher levels than normal brain tissue, but adult LGG showed a substantially lower degree of overexpression relative to high-grade tumors (logFC: 0.46, p = 9.75 × 10−17), and pediatric LGAT (logFC: −0.06, p = 0.19) did not demonstrate differential expression relative to normal brain (Figure 3A,B).
