The role of endothelial cells in MCC was investigated by Aung et al., showing that colocalized CD31 (endothelial marker) and B7-H3 (immune-regulatory protein) expression is correlated with increased tumor size, greater tumor depth, invasion, lymphovascular invasion, and invasion beyond the skin and an overall poorer prognosis in primary MCCs. This evidence concerns the gene CD276 and neoplasm.
