NFE2L2 and Friedreich ataxia: Nrf2 activators are currently in advanced clinical trials for multiple chronic conditions [41], and dimethyl fumarate and omaveloxolone (RT-408) are clinically used for the management of relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis [42] and Friedreich’s ataxia [43], respectively, which may provide a novel therapeutic strategy for managing RH-induced cognitive dysfunction in T1D.
