Subsequent semi-quantitative analysis of SMOX, ODC1 and SRM levels in the peripheral blood of DS-TB patients and MDR-TB patients using WB and qPCR revealed enhanced expression of SMOX and ODC1 in MDR-TB patients, and the results of the study were in agreement with the conclusions of the reported literature, which indicates that SMOX, ODC1 and SRM, the three key enzymes involved in polyamine metabolism, exhibited elevated levels in a variety of diseases 31-36. This evidence concerns the gene ODC1 and tuberculosis.
