The present study's observations that Mito-TEMPO pretreatment successfully ameliorated these damaging effects of 5-FU also corroborated with another in vivo study which revealed that inadequate levels of mitochondrial superoxide dismutase (SOD2/MnSOD) worsened renal pathologies and accelerated ROS-induced tubular damage, renal cellular senescence, renal interstitial inflammation, and glomerular sclerosis [75]. Here, SOD2 is linked to glomerulosclerosis.
