TMEM160 and gastric cancer: Ferroptosis is characterized by the accumulation of iron-dependent lipid peroxides and membrane rupture [31, 37, 38], the phenotypic changes observed, such as mitochondrial shrinkage, increased membrane density, elevated lipid peroxidation and Fe2+ levels, and reduced GSH levels, provide compelling evidence that TMEM160 functions as a pivotal negative regulator of ferroptosis in GC cells.
