Alirocumab and evolocumab are subcutaneously injectable monoclonal antibodies against PCSK9 administered every 2 or 4 weeks, approved for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia in very high CVD risk patients not achieving LDL-cholesterol targets with high-intensity statin and ezetimibe therapy or with intolerance to statins [2]. This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and familial hypercholesterolemia.
