It is important to note that we did see upregulation of HMGCS2 staining in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which presents with diastolic heart failure in the absence of metabolic duress and, perhaps, suggests a more pervasive role of ketone metabolism in hypertrophy/diastolic impairment. Here, HMGCS2 is linked to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
