In cancer, DNM1 has been shown to regulate the endocytosis of TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) death receptors, thereby inhibiting apoptosis, while its activation through the protein kinase B (Akt)/glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3β) pathway may disrupt clathrin-mediated endocytosis, promoting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling, and hence proliferation (Meng, 2017).
