In the whole cascade of NF‐κB activation, from IKKβ phosphorylation to p‐p65 nuclear translocation, it is unclear which PK directly phosphorylates the free p65 in atherosclerosis so far.[32] Here, we found that WEE1 knockout or inactivation did not affect IKKβ phosphorylation and IκBα degradation, while blocked p65 phosphorylation and subsequent p‐p65 nuclear translocation in oxLDL‐challenged macrophages. The gene discussed is IKBKB; the disease is atherosclerosis.
