The group with PCOS had higher serum BPA concentration than control group (p = 0.06). After dividing the participants into those with and without detectable serum BPA, no differences in the clinical and hormonal characteristics were found between these subgroups. Positive correlations between serum BPA level and TST (p = 0.05), 17β-estradiol (p = 0.029), LH/FSH ratio (p = 0.03), FAI (p = 0.007), and androstenedione (p = 0.02) were observed in PCOS patients. This evidence concerns the gene PLOD1 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
