In our cohort, 5 patients (38.5%) remained in remission and at the end of follow-up, with the only predictor of successful drug discontinuation was prolonged duration of cabergoline treatment: men who maintained normal prolactin levels were treated with cabergoline for a median of 10.0 years, compared with a median of 2.0 years in those with hyperprolactinemia relapse. This evidence concerns the gene PRL and hyperprolactinemia.
