IL1B and periodontitis: One study focused on a combination of genetic variants (Li et al. 2020), another investigated IL1A and IL1B polymorphisms in an adult Chilean Caucasian population consisting of 330 cases and 101 controls (Lopez et al. 2005), reporting a sensitivity of 26% and specificity of 90% for the diagnosis of periodontitis based on the genetic test (compared with the gold‐standard clinical definition), and accuracy calculated at 0.41 (0.36–0.46).
