Recent studies have associated several chemokines with cardiovascular disease.[30,31] CXCL-9 is closely associated with the development of cardiomyopathy,[32] which may increase the risk of acute cardiovascular events during hospitalization,[33] elucidating, to some extent, the existence of a positive causal relationship between DCM and CXCL-9. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL9 and familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
