This potentially suggests that αSyn upregulation in the TG3 melanoma mouse line is important for functional DDR in a sex dependent way and that when αSyn is no longer present and there is a buildup of unrepaired DNA breaks, male mice can better upregulate HR machinery (RPA32) in the surviving cells, while female mice can better upregulate NHEJ machinery (53BP1) in the surviving cells to try to compensate.
