ALB and neoplasm: Although serum albumin is a good marker of liver synthesis functions, some experimental studies have reported that it exerts protective effects by regulating tumor growth factors in HCC.6 The association of elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) levels before treatment with tumor progression and decreased liver function in HCC has been reported in the literature.7 Due to compromised immune systems, inadequate nutrition, and increased inflammation, the CRP–albumin–lymphocyte index (CALLY index) has been identified as a useful predictor for cancer, including those with HCC.
