Our group has also recently developeda phage display-based epitope-directed strategy (EDS) to develop antibodiesthat block proteolysis.362 We showed theversatility of this approach by developing proteolysis blocking antibodiesagainst two cancer-dysregulated cell surface receptors, CDCP1 andEphA2, and four different metalloproteases.362 Furthermore, we have also developed antibodies that selectivelybind the proteolyzed, neo-epitopes that remain on cell surfaces. This evidence concerns the gene CDCP1 and cancer.
