NFIL3 is highly expressed in the liver, and knocking out the NFIL3 gene enhances insulin sensitivity, reduces fat accumulation, decreases the expression of inflammation-related genes, and mitigates obesity and other HFD-induced metabolic problems (Wang et al., 2023; Zhao et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene NFIL3 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
