In fact, ARL4C can regulate the expression of multiple atherosclerosis-related genes (Figure 1), including ABCA1, aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A3 (ALDH1A3), ARF6, energy homeostasis associated (ENHO), filamin-A (FLNA), low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-6 (LRP6), oxysterol binding protein like 5 (OSBPL5, also named ORP5), and snail family zinc finger 2 (Snail2, also named SLUG), and sex-determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2) expression (Yang et al., 2022; Chen et al., 2021a; Hofmann et al., 2007; Chiang et al., 2017; Hu et al., 2018; Wang et al., 2018). The gene discussed is ARL4C; the disease is atherosclerosis.
