Metformin hydrochloride (metformin), a glucose-lowering medication, licensed for managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS),15 has demonstrated significant efficacy in the management of AIWG,16, 18 outperforming other pharmacological candidates in RCTs and meta-analyses,19 20 although the role of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists is yet to be determined.
