A plethora of evidence has shown that the progression of PCOS is accompanied by a sharp increase in the LH: FSH ratio and LH, FSH, and androgen levels, and a drop in estradiol production, all of which result in fertility complications (De Leo et al., 2016; Schmidt et al., 2011; Yang & Chen, 2024). The gene discussed is PLOD1; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
