Furthermore, the relative expression of bile acid transport genes (MDR1, MDR2, MRP2, NTCP, BESP) in liver tissue was examined, and the results showed an increase of bile acid transport genes after cell transplantation, which may be due to the repair of cholangiocyte injury and the alleviation of cholestasis (Figure 12C). This evidence concerns the gene ABCB4 and cholestasis.
