Among patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) activity of monocytes in blood was independently associated with apolipoprotein B (r = 0.287, P = 0.03) and oxidized LDL (r = 0.300, P = 0.02) (19). The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is familial hypercholesterolemia.
