Inhibiting Plk1 with BI2356 or volasertib significantly increased ROS levels in KRAS-mutant colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, and cervical cancer cells, while pre-treatment with a ROS scavenger partially reversed volasertib-induced apoptosis (Gao et al., 2024; Xin et al., 2019; Xie et al., 2015).
