The abundance plot of individual proteins (Figure S4) also shows higher abundance of ECM structural proteins such as Laminins (e.g. LAMA3, LAMC2, LAMB3), Tenascin-C (TNC), Fibronectin 1 (FN1) and Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycan 2 (HSPG2), as well as ECM/cell surface signaling proteins such as Integrins (e.g. ITGB1, ITGA6, ITGB4), suggesting that the tumor cells are actively depositing new ECM components onto the pre-existing dECM scaffold to reinforce interactions with their extracellular environment. This evidence concerns the gene ITGB4 and neoplasm.
