CD161+ T-cells have demonstrated a potent ability to mediate long-lasting immunity, particularly in a murine model of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) in which adoptively transferred CD8+NK1.1+ cells provided durable protection and improved survival with similar results shown when CD8+CD161+ T-cells were isolated for use in CAR T-cell therapy (2, 15). The gene discussed is KLRB1; the disease is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
