LINP1 was found to inhibit eIF2α phosphorylation via direct interaction leading to an oncogenic modulation of the unfolded protein response.30 The upregulation of lncRNAs such as LINC00460 and PICSAR and downregulation of NEAT1 have been found to act as drivers of proliferation in cSCC via epigenetic regulation of oncogenic pathways.31–33 However, as the total number of characterized lncRNAs in cSCC represent a handful of the estimated 100 000 genes and 300 000 transcripts, many novel insights remain to be elucidated by exploring these molecules.34 Here, EIF2A is linked to skin squamous cell carcinoma.
