Research has shown that schistosomiasis affected the glucose metabolism of host, leading to the upregulation of glycolysis-related genes in the liver, such as Ldha, Glut4, Pkm2, Glut1, Pfkfb3, Aldoc, HK2, and Pfk and could also improve insulin resistance (Xu et al., 2019; Cai et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene PKM and Insulin resistance.
