CD169‐positive macrophages, a unique subset that differs from M1 and M2 populations (Liu et al., 2021), enhance the cross‐priming of T lymphocytes by DCs with the localized production of type I interferons in the cancer regional node, resulting in a better prognosis (Fujiwara et al., 2024; Kumamoto et al., 2021; Rakaee et al., 2019). The gene discussed is SIGLEC1; the disease is cancer.
