MAPT and tauopathy: In vitro molecular experiments were performed by simulating the possiblechronological order of events leading to tauopathy, starting withthe aggregation of soluble tau monomers, progressing through seedingactivity, and ultimately leading to the formation of paired helicalfilaments (PHFs) that form larger structures known as neurofibrillarytangles (NFTs).45,46 Thus, we studied the effect ofthe W-Tau peptide in an in vitro aggregation assay.47 Our analyses indicated that the W-Tau peptidenot only prevents tau aggregation but also facilitates the disintegrationof human tau polymers.
