In the mouse nervous system, HEPACAM (Hepatic And Glial Cell Adhesion Molecule, also known as GlialCAM) and MLC1 (Megalencephalic Leukoencephalopathy With Subcortical Cysts 1) stabilize CLCN2 in the plasma membrane by reducing its turnover rate and improving CLCN2 gating. Here, MLC1 is linked to megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts.
