Recently, the same group demonstrated the direct reprogramming of cancer cells into immunogenic conventional type I dendritic cell-like cells (tumor cell-derived cDC1) in vivo by adenoviral-mediated delivery of the transcription factors PU.1, IRF8, and BATF3, resulting in the reconstruction of the tumor microenvironment, the formation of tertiary lymphoid structures, and the establishment of systemic immunity (Ascic et al. 2024). The gene discussed is BATF3; the disease is cancer.
