Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) refers to cancer cells that lack expression of the human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2), estrogen receptor (ER), and progesterone receptor (PR), and therefore are unable to be treated with endocrine therapy or receptor-targeted drug therapies, which are commonly used treatments for breast cancer (BC) [1].
