In ocular melanoma, histone Kla induces the expression of YTH N6-methyladenosine RNA-binding protein F2 (YTHDF2), which binds to the m6A-modified mRNAs of Period 1 (PER1) and tumor protein P53 (TP53) to promote their degradation, thereby leading to oncogenesis (Fig. 2c)36. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and ocular melanoma.
