The two members of the KCNH family of voltage-gated potassium ion (K+) channels, human ether-à-go-go type 1 (Eag1 encoded by KCNH1) and human ether-à-go-go-related gene (hERG encoded by KCNH2), have been implicated in cancer development (Pardo and Stuhmer 2014; Wang et al. 2017) and hold promise as therapeutic targets (He et al. 2020; Wulff et al. 2009).
